Devastation in earthquake ravaged Haiti

Haiti is really going through the wringer; devastating hurricanes, invasions and coups, dictatorships, famine. The list seems never-ending, I never knew any country could be so bad-lucky (to use Jamaican language before I forget it).

One would think that all that massive aid going to them would be a final answer to most of their problems, but no, now there is a problem delivering the aid to the people who most need it, while ensuring that it doesn't end-up in the hands of the corrupt.

I am almost afraid to ask, how much worse can such a bad situation get? Jamaica has problems which we sometimes think is unbearable, and unresolvable, but compared to Haiti we are mild....

It leads me to suggest what some may consider irrelevant, or illogical, but I think Haiti needs some prayer from a lot of people. I wont suggest fasting, as that would be a true insult to the hungry in that downtrodden country, so let's hope they 'eat, drink and be merry, because'...well let's leave it there...

Greetings to all, best wishes for a Happy New Year, and the prosperity it may bring.

It is truly heart wrenching to watch on the news. I dont doubt that our individual prayers will help these poor folks to get through it. The Haitians are truly resilient people which have seen them survive crisis after crisis. Look at that 84 y/o woman that they pulled out today after 10 days, these people are real fighters!

The irony of it all is that the help Haiti is getting now, should have been given to that country a long time ago. I am sure a lot of people are wondering how come it has taken this level of devastation to cause the world to look favorably at Haiti. There was mass hunger in Haiti a long time ago, with people eating mud pies, but no one ever noticed this tragedy, until now.

Anyway, it is never too late, and I am sure all the prayers for Haiti will be answered, and while we are at it, we could pray for Jamaica too, with all the extreme crime on the island.

I hope this website is able to come alive once again, in this year 2010. Blessings to all.

The natural disasters are horrible, but it is made worst by the actions of western nations. It seems Haiti will not get a break until we have a strong independent and free Afrika.

That is true, but sadly that is a common picture the world over. We need to bear in mind that most of the contributions are coming from ordinary working class folks which goes to show that despite everything our hearts can still be moved to help our fellow humans.

Shame on how red tape is making the relief effort such an ordeal. Could'nt believe it when those american aides actually took back the food they started to distribute because the crowd was too large. yet they wonder why the people are rioting!

JudgeDred says:
I noticed too Deelighted, that a lot of contributions are coming from the working class folks. Communities in Flankers, MoBay, Jamaica, and even the Republic of the Congo which is worse off than Haiti. It won't be long before people forget about the plight of Haiti, and leave them once again to starve, in a collapsed state.

As Frankster suggests western states have made the existence of Haiti a living hell. If were the Haitian government, I wouldn't have even started paying France that $20 billion debt, some time ago. The United Kingdom showed better judgement when they used their own treasury to pay-off plantation owners in the West Indies (must have been the many slave uprisings and the terrible cost that Britain was trying to get away from).

There is a company in Florence, Alabama that builds "Structured Panels" for construction of affordable housing. A factory can be put up for producion of the panels that can be assembled in 6 days for a fraction of what it costs to build conventional houses and more durable. Please go to, www.thermasave.us, to get more info on this advanced technology in construction. This system is endorsed by FAS (Federation of American Scientists) to build houses where needed most, Iraq, Afghanistan, and hopefully Haiti.

Technical support and training is available from company. Unskilled individuals can be trained on the job to build and redevelop Haiti.

Do Good,..........

The information you gave would be more relevant to an aid agency such as 'food for the poor'. Their website address is:
